Arm in Arm
Collage, glitter, pen, marker, oil pastel, and acrylic paint on unstretched canvas
12” x 26” (times 22)

Podcast participants created arms as a symbol of togetherness and strength. Because each person talked boldly about the spectrum of their sexuality, these arms represent that spectrum, each color signifying meaning: red for life, orange for healing, yellow for new ideas, blue for serenity, etc. (in reference to the all-inclusive LGBTQ+ flag). With each person’s story, McGill saw the brilliance of people’s fierce truth-telling make the shame we carry that much lighter.
